ABRIL 2021. The strategic alliance between Paramérica Semillas and Estación Experimental Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres (Obispo Colombres Agroindustrial Experimental Station) has just completed an extremely important achievement: the definitive commercialization of its first product, TUC 150.
This is a new commercial variety of Navy white bean obtained through local breeding, which, in addition to being registered in the National Register of Cultivars of the National Seed Institute (Registro Nacional de Cultivares del Instituto Nacional de Semillas, INASE), has very competitive characteristics:
- Small grain, rounded shape and bright color.
- Growth habit IIa, firm stem and adapted to direct harvesting.
- Moderately resistant to virus, angular spot and intermediate behavior to bacteriosis and web-blight.
Undoubtedly, TUC 150 represents a great opportunity for NOA producers due to the enormous and proven yield potential of the product and the excellent commercial performance of the Navy Bean variety, which is in high demand in many countries, mainly the United Kingdom, France, Portugal and Australia.
This variety was planted at Finca San Vicente, in the town of Choromoro, Department of Trancas, province of Tucumán, in lots that meet the requirements established in the national regulations for the production and marketing of controlled seeds of dry pulses. Once sown, the lots were registered with INASE for inspection. Two inspections were carried out: the first one was performed in full bloom and was oriented to the observation of general aspects of the crop, isolation, purity, presence of diseases, pests and weeds. The second inspection focused on the presence of diseases that could be detected in the pod and transmitted by seeds (anthracnose, bacteriosis, angular spot, etc.).
